Accounting Manager

Job Description and Requirements

Job Summary

Accounting Manager - Performs professional accounting and supervisory work in the area of General Accounting, including supervision, tracking and evaluation of day-to-day activities. The Accounting Manager is responsible of developing and implementing systems for collecting, analyzing, verifying and reporting information, and reconciling accounts; as well as assisting in developing and ensuring adherence to policies and procedures. The position will work closely to the rest of the Financial team.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department including:
    • Month and end-year process
    • Accounts payable/receivable
    • Cash receipts
    • General ledger
    • Payroll and utilities
    • Treasury, budgeting
    • Cash forecasting
    • Revenue and expenditure variance analysis
    • Capital assets reconciliations
    • Fixed asset activity
    • Debt activity
  2. Supervising monthly and yearly closing books in relation to:
  • Posting all transactions (Automatic, Manual and Recurring) created through different ERP modules.
  • Reviewing, monitoring and reconciling G/L accounts.
  • Assuring clearance of intermediate (clearing/control) accounts.
  • Following up monthly and yearly closing process by reviewing and adjusting G/L accounts.
  • Year ended inventory adjustments.
  1. Monitoring and reconciling cash balances at banks, including cash, credit cards accounts; and auditing daily cash deposits at banks.
  2. Following up financial guarantees for contracts and performance bonds and prepare renewing letter for the banks. Auditing and supervising all periodic suppliers bank transfers process, buy preparing vendors' payments banks details statements and needed letters that must be sent to the banks.
  3. Auditing Employees end of service benefits papers to be ready for preparing the payment through payroll section.
  4. Monitor and analyze accounting data and produce financial reports or statements.
  5. Establish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies and principles according to International Accounting Standards (IAS) and according to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  6. Coordinate and complete annual audits, including providing the external auditors with the requirements for audits.
  7. Improve systems and procedures and initiate corrective actions.
  8. Assign projects and direct staff to ensure compliance and accuracy.
  9. Meet financial accounting objectives.
  10. Establish and maintain fiscal files and records to document transactions.
  11. Ensure all finance records are kept and maintained in accordance with record retention policies.
  12. Coordinate and complete all tax requirements, including the organizing and preparation of annual income tax return and monthly sales tax returns, including providing the Tax Authorities with the requirements for tax assessments.


  • Bachelor degree in Accounting
  • Certified public accountant (C.P.A) certification, or JCPA.


  • At least 10 years professional experience, five of them are in a supervisory capacity;
  • Advanced computer skills on MS Office, accounting software and databases.
  • Ability to manipulate large amounts of data.
  • Proven knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, standards, laws and regulations.


  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures as applied to general and cost accounting and fiscal requirements.
  • Thorough knowledge of hospital accounting and purchasing procedures.
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and statutory accounting and cash management procedures.
  • Knowledge of financial and statistical analysis and modelling techniques.
  • Skill in analyzing financial data trends and / or variances and to prepare regular and special financial and budget reports.
  • Ability to supervise maintenance of complex accounting records.
  • Ability to identify critical aspects of fiscal problems and originate and select alternative solutions.
  • Ability to perform detail work involving numeric data and to make arithmetical calculations rapidly and accurately.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing.
  • Ability to supervise.
  • Proficiency in both Arabic and English Language.
